Memories of Paradise

In the late 1950s into the 1960s, when the beautiful elm trees still created a canopy along the road through Paradise, Fred and Myrna Parkinson became proprietors of our corner store by the lane. Renovations took place to include a lunch counter and soda fountain. On warm summer days, as a treat, my Grama Lydia would take me there and we would feast on Fred’s delicious made-to-order burgers and milkshakes while their boxer dog enjoyed ice cream from a cone.
