In her workshop\, she will give an overview of her latest novel and share tips on how she achieves a balance of realism while maintaining the mystique of the imaginary or unknown. \nSpecifically\, Karen will discuss: \n\nThe three anchors that shaped her latest novel\, Keepers of the Pact\nHer research that yielded unexpected literary treasures\nThe efforts made to weave in authentic Indigenous elements\n\nIn this interactive session\, participants learn how to strengthen their fictional story through fact-checking and flow; how to allow their characters to evolve the story; and how to navigate editorial decisions. \nFeel free to bring existing material to work on in the writing exercises. \nWhether you’re just looking for a creative way to spend your Saturday morning or are working on your own manuscript\, All Welcome! \nCost: Adults: $34.50 (includes HST);  Students FREE \nPay upon arrival or E-transfer to karenkelloway@eastlink.ca \nKeepers of the Pact is now available at Endless Shores Books.  Can’t make the workshop? SUMMARY:3rd Annual Meet & Greet BBQ
DESCRIPTION:Paradise Historical Society would like to invite residents of Paradise to a FREE barbecue and corn boil. \nWe’ve had such an enjoyable time the last couple of years\, we hope you are able to join us again or for the first time. \nPlease come to enjoy BBQ\, corn on the cob\, and chat with neighbours – old and new! \nThe event will take place on Saturday\, August 26\, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm (with food served between 4:00 – 6:00 pm) on the grounds of the Paradise School Heritage Centre. \nIf the weather isn’t suitable on the 26th\, the event will be moved to the 27th. \n**UPDATE: The event will be held on August 26th rain or shine. If it is raining\, we’ll enjoy our burgers and corn inside the Heritage Centre.** \nThere will be picnic tables and you are welcome to bring your own lawn chairs or picnic blankets for seating.
